Nick McGuire used the pandemic to help him press ahead to chartered surveyor status.

With much of the business world brought to a standstill when coronavirus struck, Nick seized the opportunity to become the latest member of the Cooper & Hall team to achieve the prestigious qualification.

“Becoming chartered takes years of hard work,” he said. “I used Covid as a spur to really press on with intense study.

“I’m proud to have the letters MRICS after my name. All the knowledge I have gained I’m passing on to support our clients.”

Nick brings a wealth of experience to C&H, having spent eight years as a main contractor’s surveyor, working in sectors as diverse as leisure and healthcare to power generation.

Since moving into consultancy he has added skills including procurement, contract management and dispute resolution.

“I’m an all-rounder, I’ve worked on both sides of the fence,” said Nick. “Knowing about the tricks main contractors can play means I can help subcontractors.”

He is looking forward to helping the company grow its private client business on residential projects.
