Case Study: Sherburn Bears Rugby Club refurbishment and extension

Case Study: Sherburn Bears Rugby Club

Project: Refurbishment of the existing club and the building of a one-storey extension

Client: Sherburn Council

Value: £113,500.00

Service Provided:

Pre-Construction Phase – QS services, Tender Review

Construction Phase – Post Contract. RIBA stages 2-7

Cooper & Hall was awarded the contract in February 2019. A competitive field of applicants was narrowed down in an initial single stage tender process. The contractor was selected using weighted, pre-defined parameters which held particular importance for the client.

A JCT 2016 Intermediate building contract was negotiated which evenly and fairly distributed the allocation of risk between employer and contractor and works began in March 2020.

Progress was halted by COVID-19, starting again in June 2020 and finishing four months later. Disruption caused to suppliers by the pandemic were overcome through good communication, diligent programming and hard work.
