Project: Working with architects and contractors to oversee the transformation of a Grade II listed building

Client:  MAP Charity (Music & Arts Production/alternative education provider for young adults)

Value: £1.2m

Service Provided:

Pre-Construction – Cost Plan; Schedule of Works; tender documentation; tender process management; appointment of contractors; Value Engineering

Construction Phase – monthly valuations (assessing entitlement to and value of variations); cash-flow forecasts; contract advice and administration

Cooper & Hall worked with the client and alongside partners Martin Walsh Architectural and the Ashfield Group. Pro-active administration of the contract and an agile approach to risk by all parties allowed the project to be delivered on budget. Cash-flow forecasts and cost reports, prepared by C&H, gave the client regular updates of their financial exposure and the available budget remaining. This allowed the client to make informed decisions on the final specification of the works.

The vacant, under-used building has been transformed into inviting spaces for the city’s creative community to rent.

Charlie Stobbart, MAP Charity director, said: “Cooper & Hall worked closely with our project management team to deliver this project on budget.”
